My law practice focuses on business and consumer law and litigation. Please also look at my Practice Areas. I am an A-V rated attorney with a wide-ranging general civil practice with litigation experience over the past eighteen years, a broad client base, and strong commitment to the client and the law. Litigation can be financially costly and can carry a high emotional cost in worry and stress. The courthouse can be unpredictable; indeed, the courthouse necessarily leaves decisions that are extremely important to you (and me) in the hands of people who are strangers to you: judges and their assistants, and juries selected from a pool of people randomly gathered from the public. Therefore, as part of my practice, I work hard for my clients with preventive legal counseling and straightforward, comprehensive problem-solving.
I am committed to the highest ethical and professional standards and the pursuit of excellence in my law practice. My practice is geared to the needs and interests of my clients. Please also look at my "Norton's Commandments". The mission of my practice is to deliver effectively and efficiently the legal skill, experience and resources ordinarily associated with large mega-law firms, while maintaining the quality and accessibility of a small firm. The key to providing effective legal services promptly and at minimal cost is understanding each client’s business, issues and goals. Maintaining open and responsive communications with each and every client is a cornerstone of my law practice. I endeavor to return every telephone call and e-mail as promptly as possible. “Every client deserves my utmost concern, my unwavering commitment to his or her situation, and my dedication to quality legal representation for his or her legal needs and goals.”
I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas and received my undergraduate degree from Williams College in 1973 and my legal education at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville where I also served as Managing Editor of the law review. I had the honor to work as a judicial clerk for Judge Nauman Scott of the United States District for the Western District of Louisiana in 1987-1989.
I am licensed to practice law in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
I have a heart--- I care about my clients deeply--- but, at the same time, I am a zealous and adamant advocate of my clients’ legal positions in court and out of court, at trial and before trial during trial preparation.
I have two children who attend elementary school in the Richardson Independent School District in Dallas County. Our favorite family pastime is going to Texas Rangers games and “car-camping” at local state parks. We participate actively in our synagogue and community. I was a member of the citizen’s committee for the Dallas Independent School District when the School District Trustees were searching for a new superintendent in 2005. I used to write a legal column for the Texas Jewish Post. I have not missed one of my little boy’s baseball games.
NOTE: My young children are both prodigious violin players. I have been known to introduce myself light-heartedly at meetings as the father of my violin-playing children----- in case anyone in the audience in 10 or 15 years hears my grown-up children performing at some concert hall, he or she can say “You know, I think, many, many years ago I once met this young violinist’s father at a meeting or conference.”
